Skywatch Friday - Christmas 2017 Edition

DSCN8460

Welcome to Skywatch Friday and thank you for participating. Christmas is very close and I don't know about where you live, here in the USA it is a madhouse of people out and about shopping and clicking away on Amazon and delivery truck drivers in the neighborhood all hours of the day and night. Makes me want to go to a beach and walk it, thank you very much. Merry Christmas to those of you who observe the holiday!! If you don't, have a great week.

Skywatch Friday starts up every Thursday at 2:30 US CDT (8:30 GMT if that helps) and we go all week until the next edition starts.

Skywatch Friday - Thanksgiving Edition

IMG_7114

In the USA this week Skywatch Friday is on Thanksgiving, a big big holiday. So if you celebrate it I hope you have a good one but don't forget to link your Skywatch post. If you forget, don't worry, the linky is good for a week and then another one starts up. The other big tradition is the day after Thanksgiving, the dreaded, to me Black Friday where shoppers trample each other in there search for bargains. I will tell you where I am going to be. A local resort in the Osage Hills northwest of Tulsa is opening up their grounds to anybody who wants to hike their extensive trail network. That is where I am going to be, with my camera along with my son and brother. That is my idea of Black Friday.

But hey, you celebrate the day the way you want.

Thank you for participating. We start the meme every Thursday at 2:30 CST and it goes for 168 straight hours until the next one starts.

Skywatch Friday

20171102-211129-2

It's November already and the holiday season is upon us. In the USA we have Thanksgiving starting up. Traditionalists like me think that everybody should not worry about Christmas until Thanksgiving is over. I'm actually worse than that. I think that there are twelve days of Christmas and none of them are in November. I digress and I apologize.

Welcome to Skywatch and thank you for participating. We are starting up on Thursdays at 2:30 PM US Central Time since daylight savings time is over. We keep the meme open all week until the next edition starts. Not too many rules. Just use the linky below. Link back to here. Visit as many people as you can. Some people have been known to link two posts and that is fine with me. Some have linked Instagram posts and I say go for it. It is about the photographs, visiting, and learning rather than rules.

Thank you and Happy Skywatching

Skywatch Friday - Time Change Edition

Centennial Park Clock.jpg

Here in the US we are "Springing Forward" one hour on Sunday morning. Oh happy day. I love the extra hour after work!! I can go trailrunning on Turkey Mountain, something I don't like doing in the dark. I know not everybody is sold on the benefits. My mother, who I loved very much. hated the concept. She would tell me that she lost an hour of sleep every night. I'd tell it would even out in the Fall when we went back to normal time. And she said, yes, but that was for only one night. It was hard to win an argument with my mother. I know I never did.

Sorry, I got carried away, this isn't an old boring family history blog meme. It is Skywatch Friday where we are supposed to meet and make links to our posts with sky photographs. Thank you for participating and please visit as many participants as you can.

Skywatch Friday - Groundhog Day 2017 Edition

DSCN7572

Time for another edition of Skywatch Friday. Thursday is Groundhog Day and of course I have 60,000 photographs and not one of a groundhog but how about meerkats? You know they come out and look around all the time and surely they and groundhogs look at their shadows, or lack of shadows all the time.

20100804_297
San Diego Zoo, 2010

So post your sky photographs and let us know if your local groundhogs or meerkats or other critter saw their shadow so we can figure out how much more Winter we have coming. Here in Oklahoma we haven't had much weather and I could use a little more but I don't want any ice. So I'm being kind of picky. How about you? Have you had enough winter yet? For our southern hemisphere friends tell us about your summer. Personally, I have never had too much summer, ever.

Thank you for participating!! Sandy, Sylvia, and Yogi are your co-hosts. I heard from Sylvia last week and she thinks she might be posting again!! That is great news.
